The spark plug is the last step in the ignition circuit. It takes a voltage surge from the coil and creates a high voltage spark that ignites the compressed air fuel mixture within each cylinder. If everything operates properly, the engine runs efficiently providing maximum fuel economy and the lowest exhaust emissions. Spark plugs are available in different materials, heat ranges, reach, thread diameter, and seat type, with features to suit engine requirements. Always use the spark plug that is specified for your engine. If the wrong plug is used, it could come into contact with a piston or valve within the engine and break causing serious damage to the engine.
